We’ve all reached that moment in our afternoon: food coma, excel headache, post-meeting pains. Whatever it might be, these moments become roadblocks in our day and bring our productivity to a grinding halt.
If I had to pick just one productivity hack to boost my energy after a mid-day slump it would be exercise; whether it’s a run, a bike ride, or even just a walk around the block. 2pm is generally when your caffeine intake has run low and your post-lunch sloth kicks in. Exercising in that moment boosts endorphins, gets your blood pumping, and offers a change in scenery.
Walks are especially helpful for working off frustration or working on a problem. I’ve even taken my one-on-ones with my team to the street on occasion to increase our creativity and help the conversation flow more easily.
Don’t have a lot of time to spare? Do a few jumping jacks or just stretch at your desk. Any kind of movement helps. I swear by it and so does my team!
